Interfaces
URA Periodical, Issue 1
The first volume of the URA Periodical, an annual open-access publication, explores the diverse facets and dimensions of ‘interfaces’ that emerge within the Sino-German research and development project ‘Urban-Rural Assembly’ (2019–2024). Whether outlining the interdisciplinary analysis of development barriers and potentials at the urban-rural interface in Germany and China, or reflecting on experiences in transdisciplinary collaboration at the interface of science and practice, URA researchers and guest authors provide insights into their ongoing research findings. By combining scientific and essayistic writing, photographic work, and ethnographic studies—including interviews, spatial mappings, and drawings—the URA Periodical aims to bridge academic, practice, and policy discourses on global sustainability challenges and integrated planning and governance at the urban-rural interface of urban regions.
